Crafty Readers is for grades 2 & 3
The Book: Catstronauts, by Drew Brockington
The Program: For the first 15 minutes we had a discussion of the book. We use the following discussion prompts:
- Rate the book on a scale of 1-10. Why did you give it that score?
- Who was your favorite cat?
- What would be something important you’d need if you were going to space?
- What fun thing would you bring to space with you?
- Anything else you’d like to share about the book?
The activity: We made pool noodle rocket flingers. Their grown-ups came downstairs to help with this one. They loved picking out what duct tape to use and, of course, shooting their rocket flingers!
