The Book: Holes, by Louis Sachar
The Program: For the first 20 minutes we had a discussion of the book. We discussed the following questions and other topics that came up along the way.
- What did you think about the book? What did you like/dislike about it? Score on a scale of 1-10.
- What did you expect Camp Green Lake to be like? How is it different?
- Why does Stanely give X-Ray the tube of lipstick he finds in his hole? What would you have done?
- Describe Stanley and Zero’s friendship. How does it relate to their family history?
- What was Stanley and Zero’s agreement? What did you think about it? Was it fair to the other campers?
The activity: I was inspired by the lizards found at Camp Green Lake, so we made lizards out of air dry clay.
