The Book: Amulet, by Kazu Kibuishi
The Program: For the first 20 minutes we discussed the book. I had some questions jotted down but I didn’t use them because the kids had plenty of thoughts ready to share! The kids always start by scoring the book from 1-10. After that we delved into favorite parts of the book followed by a discussion of all the decisions that are made in the book and whether they were good or bad.
The Activity: We made amulets! I cut out circles from cardboard and then gave the kids foil and sharpies. They covered the circle in foil and then they decorated with the sharpies.
