Page Turners is for grades 4-6
The Book: The Night Librarian, by Christopher Lincoln
The Program: For the first 20 minutes we had a discussion of the book. We use the following discussion prompts:
Rate the book on a scale of 1-10. Why did you give it that score?
What books were referenced in The Night Librarian? Did you know them? Which would you want to read?
Outside of the problems at the night library, what other problems were Paige and Turner having?
What did you think of the ending to the problem at the night library? What did you think about the ending to thier family problems?
Activity: Since it is close to Halloween we made spooky terrariums. We used glass yogurt containers, acrylic paint pens, tiny Halloween-themed figurines, batting, and a little potting soil. The kids decorated their jars with paint pens and they each got 3 figurines. We added a little soil in the bottom of the yogurt container and a little batting to be fog on top. Fun!
